Health and beauty

Health and beauty on marketplaces, compliant from the first listing.

Beauty and wellness products sell well on marketplaces, but they're among the most tightly regulated categories. We handle approvals, compliant listings and stock with expiry dates in mind, so you can grow without putting your accounts at risk.

Book a 20-minute demoWhat we do
The problem

In health and beauty, the wrong word or a missing document can stop a listing.

We prepare your approvals, write listings that sell within the rules and plan stock around expiry dates, so your products stay live. We can also get gift-friendly products into the right independent gift shops through retail and wholesale.

Approval before you sell

Marketplaces restrict beauty and health products, and getting approved takes the right paperwork.

Claims that break the rules

A product description that promises too much can turn a cosmetic or supplement into an unlicensed medicine in the eyes of the law.

Stock with a shelf life

Expiry dates affect what fulfilment centres accept and what customers will buy. Short-dated stock ties up cash.

Where to sell

The channels that suit you. And why.

Amazon

Huge reach for beauty and wellness, but Beauty and Health and personal care are categories that need Amazon's approval first.

Marketplace guide →

TikTok Shop

Beauty sells through demonstrations and creators, and selected Beauty and Personal Care categories have a reduced 5% commission at the time of writing.

Marketplace guide →

Debenhams

Debenhams takes applications for its marketplace, and beauty is one of its core categories alongside fashion, sport and homeware.

Marketplace guide →

eBay

Useful for established beauty and haircare ranges, with flexible listing formats and a broad UK audience.

Marketplace guide →

OnBuy

A UK general marketplace that can add sales for compliant ranges with complete product data.

Watch out for

What makes this category different.

Cosmetics need a Responsible Person and notification

Every cosmetic sold in Great Britain needs a Responsible Person with a UK address (not a PO box), a safety report from a qualified assessor and a product information file kept for 10 years. Products must be notified through the UK's Submit Cosmetic Product Notifications service before sale. Amazon points out that EU notification alone isn't enough.

Food supplements and health claims

Supplements must be sold as a "food supplement" with the recommended daily dose, a warning not to exceed it, a statement that they're not a substitute for a varied diet and a warning to keep them out of reach of young children. Only authorised claims on the GB Nutrition and Health Claims register may be used.

Medicinal claims

A product presented as preventing or treating disease can be classed as a medicine by the MHRA, and natural or herbal ingredients don't change that. Amazon UK also prohibits unlicensed products that make prohibited medicinal or health claims, so copy needs careful wording.

Amazon approvals and shelf life

To sell food supplements on Amazon UK you must apply for approval and provide a GFSI, HACCP or GMP certificate for the manufacturer. Stock sent to Amazon's warehouses must have enough shelf life left to be used up in full, plus 90 days.

How we help

What we do for you.

Category approvals handled

We prepare the documents marketplaces ask for, such as invoices, certificates and product photos, and manage the approval applications.

Account health →

Listings that sell within the rules

Benefit-led copy that stays inside cosmetics and health claims rules, with ingredients, usage and warnings set out clearly.

Listing optimisation →

Stock planned around expiry dates

We plan replenishment so stock arrives with enough shelf life for marketplace rules and doesn't sit until it's too short-dated to sell.

Marketplace management →

TikTok Shop launch

We set up your TikTok Shop, list your products to its rules and get the account ready for creator and video-led selling.

FAQ

Questions we get asked.

Do we need to notify our cosmetics before selling online?
Yes. Cosmetic products must be notified through the Submit Cosmetic Product Notifications service before they're placed on the GB market, and they need a UK-based Responsible Person. If your products are only notified on the EU portal, Amazon says you must notify them in the UK as well.
What can we say about our supplements?
Only health claims authorised on the GB Nutrition and Health Claims register can be used. Anything suggesting a product prevents or treats a disease risks it being treated as a medicine. We write descriptions that explain ingredients and usage clearly without crossing that line.
Do we need approval to sell beauty products on Amazon?
For many products, yes. At the time of writing, Amazon lists Beauty and Health and personal care among the categories that need approval, with reviews typically taking 2 to 7 business days. Food supplements have their own approval and certificate requirements.
Do customers have the right to return opened beauty products?
Not under the 14-day cancellation right, if the product was sealed for health protection or hygiene reasons and the customer has unsealed it after delivery. Make this clear in your listings, and check each marketplace's returns policy as well.
What does it cost for a health and beauty business?
Most beauty ranges grow through shades, sizes and bundles, and the work often covers listing optimisation, promotions and stock syncing. Costs depend on the channels you want to sell on, how many products you have and how much help you need. We give you a clear quote after a free 20-minute demo.
