B&Q's marketplace puts your products on diy.com next to B&Q's own range, in front of shoppers who are already planning a project. We handle the application, product data, orders and service standards so the channel grows without eating your time.

Selling on B&Q

B&Q can be a serious sales channel, but it asks for detailed data and steady service.

We set up clean product data and prices that build in delivery, then handle orders and messages daily, with stock synced across your other channels, so your B&Q account runs properly without you watching it all day.

Detailed product data

Products are checked against B&Q's category requirements, and anything that doesn't meet them may be rejected at validation. Missing attributes or barcodes hold up your whole range.

Heavy, costly delivery

You choose the courier and pay to ship, and B&Q doesn't allow separate delivery charges, so delivery has to be built into your price. Sheds, flooring and furniture can wipe out your margin if it isn't.

Another inbox to watch

Customers can contact you about their orders through B&Q, and B&Q checks that verified sellers meet its standards. Slow replies and late dispatches soon add up.

Is B&Q right for you? An honest answer, including when to wait.

A good fit if

  • Businesses selling DIY, garden, home, lighting, tools, plumbing, flooring or pet products, the categories B&Q's application asks about.
  • VAT-registered businesses with barcoded products and good product images.
  • Businesses already selling online that want a specialist home improvement channel alongside Amazon or eBay.
  • Sellers who can dispatch reliably and keep stock levels accurate across every channel.

Think twice if

  • There's a monthly subscription as well as commission, so a very small range may not cover the fixed cost.
  • You pay for and manage delivery. Large or heavy items need careful delivery pricing and strong packaging, or returns and damage will eat your margin.
  • Acceptance isn't automatic. B&Q assesses every application against its criteria and runs merchant and product checks, and products must meet its regulatory and quality requirements.

Getting started

How you get on B&Q.

1

Free 20-minute demo

Start with a free 20-minute demo. We look at your products and the channels you sell on today, show whether B&Q fits and what it would cost, and walk you through how an application and launch work.

2

Choose your range

We pick the products and categories most likely to sell on diy.com and check that barcodes, images and specifications are ready.

3

Apply in your company's name

B&Q's form asks for your VAT number, company number, turnover, range size, delivery times and the system you sell through. We help you complete it, and you submit it.

4

Onboard and go live

Once you're approved, we set up your shop, upload products and configure delivery. Nothing goes live without your sign-off.

FAQ

B&Q questions.

How long does it take to start selling on B&Q?
B&Q says setup typically takes less than five working days from application to going live. In practice it depends on how quickly your application is approved and how clean your product data is. Large catalogues take longer to map to B&Q's categories.
What does B&Q charge marketplace sellers?
B&Q charges a monthly subscription and a commission on each sale, with the rate set by product category. Integration partner ChannelEngine lists the subscription at £39 a month and commission at 7% to 15%. Kingfisher, B&Q's parent company, says its marketplace commission works out at around 10% to 15% of sales value. Confirm your exact rates when you apply.
Who delivers marketplace orders?
You do. B&Q describes it as you sell it, you ship it, using the courier of your choice. B&Q has also rolled out marketplace Click & Collect across 300 stores for selected products from selected sellers.
Can customers return marketplace items to a B&Q store?
B&Q tells customers that marketplace returns can be made by arranging a pick-up from home, or in store for most products. Ask during onboarding how returns of your items are handled and passed back to you, so there are no surprises.
Do we need barcodes to sell on B&Q?
Yes. Products need valid EAN or GTIN codes, and anything that doesn't meet B&Q's data requirements may be rejected. Our guide to GTIN barcodes in the UK explains how to get them, and our B&Q selling guide covers the full process.
Can we sell on B&Q from outside the UK?
B&Q's application accepts businesses registered in other countries, and Kingfisher says it has started onboarding cross-border sellers. You still need a VAT number, and you must deliver reliably to B&Q's UK customers.
