Selling on Tesco

Tesco shoppers trust the Tesco name, and Tesco expects its sellers to protect it.

We get your product data and processes ready for Tesco's standards, then handle orders, messages and returns alongside your other channels, so your performance stays where Tesco wants it.

Approval isn't automatic

Tesco vets every seller and keeps monitoring delivery speed, returns, ratings and reviews once you're live.

Platform changes

Tesco moved its marketplace to Mirakl in October 2025, and existing sellers had to redo their integrations. Product data has to fit the new templates.

Delivery and returns are yours

You ship every order and handle returns yourself. Late parcels and slow refunds show up in the ratings Tesco watches.

Is Tesco right for you? An honest answer, including when to wait.

A good fit if

  • Businesses selling home, garden, electricals, health and beauty, pet, baby, toys or food, the areas where most Tesco sellers trade.
  • UK-registered, VAT-registered businesses with an established online sales record.
  • Sellers who can dispatch quickly, offer tracked delivery and process returns without delay.
  • Ranges that suit busy households adding something extra while they shop with Tesco.

Think twice if

  • Commission isn't published, so you'll only see the rate for your category once you're in Tesco's process. Get it in writing before you build a plan around it.
  • Tesco monitors delivery speed, returns and reviews and holds sellers to its standards. If your dispatch isn't reliable yet, fix that before you apply.
  • Tesco publishes a public list of marketplace sellers that includes each company's name, VAT number, address and contact details.

FAQ

Tesco questions.

When did Tesco Marketplace launch?
Tesco launched its current marketplace in June 2024. It had earlier run a marketplace through Tesco Direct, which closed in 2018. The marketplace moved onto Mirakl in October 2025.
How do we become a Tesco Marketplace seller?
You apply, and Tesco decides. Integration partner ChannelEngine says you need to be registered in the UK and VAT registered in the UK, and Tesco says every seller is vetted against its requirements and standards. Be ready to show your dispatch times and customer ratings from other channels.
What does Tesco charge marketplace sellers?
Tesco doesn't publish its fees. ChannelEngine reports no setup fee and no monthly fee, with a commission on each sale that varies by product category. Get your category rate confirmed in writing before you list.
Who delivers marketplace orders?
You do. Marketplace items are delivered by the seller, separately from Tesco grocery orders, and customers may pay a separate delivery charge. Your delivery price and speed are part of what shoppers compare.
Do customers get Clubcard points on marketplace items?
Yes. Customers with a Clubcard collect 1 point for every £1 spent on marketplace products, the same as on Tesco's own range. That helps marketplace items feel like part of a normal Tesco shop.
Can Polymerchant run Tesco alongside our other marketplaces?
Yes. We run Tesco alongside your other channels, with stock and order syncing so you don't oversell across Tesco, Amazon and others. Accounts stay in your company's name, and nothing goes live without your approval.
