Wayfair supplier management, from Partner Home to dispatch.

Wayfair doesn't work like Amazon or eBay. You supply at a wholesale cost and ship each order straight to the customer, while Wayfair sets the retail price. We handle the Partner Home setup, the catalogue detail and the daily purchase orders, so your account runs properly from the start.

Wayfair at a glance
How it worksYou're a supplier, not a marketplace seller. You set a wholesale cost, Wayfair sets the retail price, and orders reach you as purchase orders to drop-ship (send direct) to the customer
Who can sellBusinesses with home products in Wayfair's categories, a warehouse or 3PL (third-party logistics provider) in the UK that can ship direct, and a business registration number
How to joinApply online, set up your account on Partner Home (Wayfair's supplier platform), sign the drop-ship agreement, configure your inventory feed, upload your insurance and add your catalogue
FeesNo published commission. Wayfair's platform agreement includes a monthly Platform Access Pass fee per supplier ID unless you qualify for an exclusion, but the amount isn't published. A damage and defect allowance, typically around 4% to 5% of base cost, also applies
Getting paidStandard terms are payment of undisputed invoices within 60 days of Wayfair receiving them, unless agreed otherwise in writing
FulfilmentDrop-ship from your own warehouse as standard. CastleGate Fulfilment, Wayfair's storage and pick-and-pack network, opens to you once you've onboarded and started selling
AdvertisingPay-per-click ads, set up through Partner Home
Selling on Wayfair

Wayfair is a specialist home channel, and its supplier process takes real time to get right.

We set up and run your Wayfair supplier account alongside your other channels, from catalogue data and inventory feeds to purchase orders and promotions, so it gets daily attention without taking yours.

Heavy catalogue demands

Each product needs at least 3 images of 1000 by 1000 pixels or more, plus details like dimensions, weight, carton sizes, materials and wholesale cost. Wayfair says onboarding takes a few days with these ready and 2 to 3 weeks without them.

Price set for you

Wayfair sets retail prices with its own dynamic pricing system, and your wholesale cost is a major part of the formula. A base cost set without thought can cost you margin or keep you out of promotions.

Drop-ship pressure

Every order is a purchase order you pick, pack, label and ship, with inventory and lead times kept up to date. When stock drifts or lead times slip, customers notice.

Is Wayfair right for you? An honest answer, including when to wait.

A good fit if

  • Businesses selling furniture, garden, lighting, décor, storage or other home products in the categories Wayfair lists.
  • Businesses with a UK warehouse or 3PL that can pack to industry standards and ship orders direct to customers.
  • Businesses with made-to-order products and dependable lead times, which Wayfair accepts.
  • Businesses comfortable with a wholesale-style relationship, where Wayfair sets the retail price.

Think twice if

  • You don't control the retail price. Wayfair sets it using its own pricing system, with your wholesale cost as one input.
  • Cash comes in slowly. Wayfair's standard terms are payment within 60 days of receiving your invoice, unless you agree otherwise in writing.
  • Not every cost is published. There's a monthly Platform Access Pass fee unless you're excluded, plus a damage and defect allowance of typically around 4% to 5% of base cost. Ask for the full terms before you commit.

FAQ

Wayfair questions.

Is Wayfair a marketplace?
Not in the usual sense. You're a supplier: you set a wholesale cost, Wayfair sets the retail price and sends you purchase orders to ship direct to its customers. It's closer to supplying a retailer than running your own shop on a marketplace.
How do UK businesses join Wayfair?
You apply through Wayfair's online form, then set up an account on Partner Home, sign the drop-ship agreement, configure your inventory feed, upload your insurance and add your catalogue. Wayfair says most suppliers who have everything ready finish onboarding in a few days, and that it can take 2 to 3 weeks without.
What does it cost to sell on Wayfair?
Wayfair doesn't publish a commission rate, because it buys at your wholesale cost and sets its own retail price. Its platform agreement includes a monthly Platform Access Pass fee per supplier ID unless you qualify for an exclusion, but the amount isn't public. Expect a damage and defect allowance too, typically around 4% to 5% of base cost.
How does drop-shipping with Wayfair work?
When a customer orders, the purchase order goes to your warehouse and you pick, pack and ship it direct to them. For UK sales you need at least one warehouse or 3PL in the UK that can ship direct, and you can print labels from Wayfair or your own system. Customer returns go to your return address or, where available, through Wayfair-managed returns.
What is CastleGate?
CastleGate is Wayfair's logistics network, offering storage, pick-and-pack and forwarding from distribution centres serving the UK, US and Canada. It's only open to suppliers who have finished onboarding and started selling.
When does Wayfair pay suppliers?
Wayfair's standard terms are payment of undisputed invoices within 60 days of receiving them, unless you agree something different in writing. You'll need a bank account that can receive payouts in GBP for UK sales.
